Races

A Star Wars Story: Species/Races
In A Star Wars Story, characters have several species/races they can choose from.
Picking a Race
The Galaxy is host to many different races and each have their own peculiarities, sometimes in the form of advantages or disadvantages. Depending on which race a player choose, different abilities are available. Various racial abilities of each race are listed below:

Galactic Databanks wrote: Humans
Hailing from various planets throughout the galaxy, humans ingenuity and migrations made perhaps the most common race in the galaxy. Humans can start with 1 free skill points in any skill they so desire. Physically they are considered the baseline from which other species are described. Generally average, humans are versatile. Human physiology don't have any given advantage, but likewise a lack of disadvantages make them solid all-rounders.

Evolved from a lizardoid species, Rhodians are extremely adept at tracking making them wonderful hunters. Rodians have thermal-based vision, however this can be problematic when looking at things which have temperatures that are not easily distinguishable. An additional pair of saucer-like ears on the top of their heads give them the ability to feel vibrations in the air- though massive vibrations can cause debilitating headaches.

Hairless humanoids with green or blue skin descended from reptiles, the Duros have no nose. Instead, they have an olfactory organ located beneath their eyes. These two organs give them increased slightly-increased sense of smell. Inventors of the Hyperdrive, Duros tend to be very good navigators and pilots to an uncanny level. Duros start with 2 free skill points in piloting.

Galactic Databanks wrote: Miraluka
More or less similar in physiology to humans, the key difference is Miraluka are born without eyes. Instead, all Miraluka are force sensitive and through force sight are capable of seeing just as any person physically would via the force. This unique ability allows Miraluka to maintain a sense of site no matter the environment they are in. Interruptions to their focus or connection to the force however can detrimentally effect this vision.

Galactic Databanks wrote: Tholothian
Virtually human, Tholothians have white tendrils that protrude from their head instead of hairs. These tendrils change colors in response to the Tholothian's emotional mood when distressed, which can be an unfortunate give away in many negotiaiton situations. Tholothian's tend to live a lifespan almost double that of humans, which often lead to them being wiser and having greater knowledge. Tholothian's may assign 3 free skill points wherever they choose.

A humanoid species, Siniteen's massive head and complex brain give them an uncanny ability for performing complex mental calculations... but their nearly exposed brain makes them much more fragile to concussions. Similar to humans in physiology, Mirialans tend to be much more flexible and possess higher flexibility, to the point where nearly every mirialan is double jointed. Their flexibility also makes them less likely to suffer injuries that tear muscles or break bones.

Galactic Databanks wrote: Nautolan
A naturally athletic species, Nautolan are aquatic lifeforms that can breathe under water or on land, and have no movement restrictions when in the water. Nautolans can also gain pheromone feedback from the tendrils on their head which can help them easier spot liars or rapid changes to others emotional states. Dry, extremely hot conditions cause issues for Nautolans, weakening their delicate tendrils which must be kept moist. Nautolans can also see in extremely low-lit conditions, giving them remarkable vision in the dark, however Nautolans have extra difficulty seeing in very bright environments.

Galactic Databanks wrote: Kel Dor
Kel Dors are a unique species that breath Helium rather than Oxygen. The downside to this however is that for a Kel Dor, oxygen is poisonous. To counter this in most environments Kel Dor's must wear protective gear which covers their eyes, mouth, and nose. Though more frail than most species, Kel Dor's make up for it with superb reflexes making them excellent pilots. Kel Dor's start with 3 free skill points in Piloting.

A humanoid species, rather than hair the togruta have multiple montrals that often grow down to their waist in size. These montrals act as ultra-sonic sensors and allow Togruta to sense the space around them via echolocation, giving them near 360 degree senses of presence. Of course, being ultra-sonic based they are susceptible to having their senses overloaded by lots of or extremely loud sound.

A small and light-weight species, Toydarian's can fly using small wings on their backs and helium-like gas in their bellies. Toydarians are also much more immune to any force-based mind control, requiring those trying to use the force on them to be a bit more powerful than usual.

Very similar to humans, Zabrak's tend to have no hair at the top of their head and have horns instead. These horns can grow quite long if left untrimmed and can also be sharp enough to be used to impale people. The most spectacular trait of a Zabrak however is their toughness and ability to survive slightly better in life-ending scenarios than most. Zabraks have an unusually high tolerance for pain and second heart.
