Secrets in the Sand

Historically some of the first worlds colonized by those of the Core and the republic, The Colonies tend to be well off and on great trade routes. Notable planets include Abednedo, Cato Neimoidia, and Carida.

Known simply as the "The Rim", the inner rim was once the frontier of colonization. These planets tend to be well used trade routes. Notable planets include Onderon, Jakku, Bestine, Thyferra, and Taanab.

Secrets in the Sand

Post by James »

Jakku was a sandy and desolate wasteland filled with little more than starship wreckage and local scum. There was a certain air about the place however, one that Soto found to his liking. On this particular day, the droid found himself inside a local cantina. He was fully shrouded and obscured by the dark robes he wore, with only his yellow glowing eyes giving a glimpse into his mechanical nature. He would find himself sitting in a booth, near the back of the establishment. He was holding a local map he had picked up outside the place, but it didn't have any true points of interest.

From the many battle that were fought about the dustball's sands, Soto could tell strong dark side energies existed on the planet. He was here to discover the source of those energies, and perhaps recover an artifact or two. Learning more about the sith, and how they fell would be vital to reviving them. Establishing a new sith order, and bringing about the end of the jedi was a daunting task alone, perhaps he could even make an ally on the world.

Despite the many thoughts flowing through his heuristic processor, the droid would continue comb over the map. There was a graveyard of fallen ships not too far outside of town, perhaps they would be worth scavenging...

It seemed that most people in this cantina didn't seem to care about new faces, figuring they were people that were just passing through. Droids didn't seem that rare on this planet either from what Soto could tell, being that there were a few around the cantina and even a few wandering around outside but those that were seemed to be doing a specific purpose. Jakku was just a dustball of a planet like one would expect with inhabitants here being filthy scavengers or mechanics or traders. Even those in this cantina seemed to be of that variety, but most of the people here were more common species that existed on the mid rim. Humans, near-human species, and those of natives and the common immigrated species. The only one that seemed to stick out was a Cathar who was quietly drinking at the bar when he had first come in.

After a time though, he would slap a cred chip down. "There... back to work for me... 'work'" He would say that last word sarcastically as he spoke to the barkeep of the cantina, a human man. "Alright Darsta... see you tomorrow for another round." He stated as he went to stand up and start to walk outside the cantina. The entire time he had been in there though, he had kept an eye on that cloaked figure. He wasn't sure why but he got a strange feeling around him, one that made him nervous.

Now that he had decided on a starship graveyard to scavenge through, Soto would stand from his corner for the first time. he had just noticed the amount of locals in the establishment compared to that of the visitors. It seemed that most were juts passing through, himself included. Telling a local from a visitor wasn't hard, it was a quick analysis of how one carried themself and how they dressed. As the droid began walking towards the door of the establishment, another being would catch his photoreceptor. Soto couldn't quite put his finger on it, but a young cathar man seemed to grab his attention. Perhaps the young man's facial features stood out to him, or maybe the way he walked gave it away. Either way, the droid wished to converse with him.

Overhearing the conversation about honest 'work' Soto figured he should make the man a proposition. The hooded droid would approach slowly, eventually beginning to speak in his dark distorted voice "You seem like a man who has spent a fair amount of time on this planet. Perhaps not his entire life, but a fair amount of time..." The droid's arm would stretch out from his cloak, it was covered with protective padding and duraplast plates to conceal his inorganic nature. In his hand, he held a small metallic disk that showed a holographic display of an ancient sith holocron. It appeared to be a small pyrmid-shaped box with various runes along it's sides. "I have come to this planet to seek knowledge, and artifacts... This is the object which I yearn to find."

Soto would retract his arm into the cloak, pulling the hologram with it. "As I said before, you seem to know this area, even it's ruins perhaps? If you help me find the device, it'll be your's to sell once I'm done with it... It could be a profitable venture?"

The Cathar man would pause for a moment as he was being spoken to and he turned around to see what seemed like a droid. 'Great... another filthy clanker...' He would think to himself as he crossed his arms over his chest... but he'd find himself realizing he was in for a far more dangerous companion than he had previously thought. Forcing himself to hid his reactions as he saw that he knew to be a holocron, one of his eyebrows would raise. "How do I know it is worth anything at all? Looks like some fancy pyramid to me." He stated as he seemed to be unbelieving of what this droid was after. After all, those were not just rare, they were powerful. They were strange devices that could become issues for later. Paldon was still not used to being away from the Jedi, his old teachings coming to the surface of what he had learned about the Sith in years prior... but he also knew that it was not his place anymore. "Listen clanker, if that thing doesn't sell, I don't make money... where is my guarantee?"

With a dismissive wave of the hand, he'd go to turn around. "Plus, ain't got no time for some droid bugging me to do its bidding." He tried to act as dismissive as he could, his acting not always the best due to his original nature but he had been learning how to better express his emotions over time.
