Tython - Hunting Holocrons

Post by Jesu »

Within a few weeks the entirety of Yavin IV had been swamped by republic forces, alongside Jedi who had gone through great lengths to look throughout the temple. Though the figure Kitchit and his padawan faced was not necessarily a sith, it was clear to the council something had awoken on the dark side of the force, and that something hard not only hurt one of their own but escaped. Despite having been a master of Soeresu, Kitchit could not help but feel ashamed at his weakness at the hands of the enemy and his loss. As such, he had not moved to replace the arm he had lossed.

It would remind him that he had a long way to truly being a "Jedi Master" and that his rank of knight was well deserved. Regardless, Kitchit and his padawan had been moved to somewhere else. A planet known as Tython where an age old jedi temple stood, and near it, relics from the first dark Jedi. Holocrons and more were all over the planet and now, if not ever, was the time to secure them.

The species of Tython were notably ferocious and often killed younglings who wandered off in the past, but after centuries of Tython being cultivated by the Jedi service core it was certainly more friendly than history told. Kitchit and Colt would have just arrived and stepped off their ship as a young padawan, a notch older thanColt approached. She smiled gleefully and bowed.

Her eyes were green and her hair an auburn shade. Freckles dotted the bridge of her nose but stopped just short of reaching the rest of her face. To each side of hers was a light saber blade that looked to be pure white with gold trimming- a very regal sense.

"Master Yurin told me you would be arriving. I am to guide you to the location which you are supposed to guard- and I am supposed to be your guide. Yurin says it's a trial of sorts, and perhaps I can became a Jedi Knight if this goes well." the girl said smiling and bowing to the two.

"It's a miracle I got here just as you did- for some reason our orbital satellite went out and we don't really have much idea of what's coming in and out right now. Seems to be a short in one of the temple relay subsystems. Some service core members are fixing it now." she added as she began to walk forward from the landing pad and towards a turbolift.

Kitchit had remained strangely silent since their arrival; though he had been like this since Yavin.

As Colt sat on the ship looking out the window melancholic he felt a great disturbance in his gut. Albeit he was new to the force, he couldn't help, but feel the tugs as his master did but misinterpreted it as a gut feeling. Colt was much different than everyone else in the Jedi order, he was more grounded in a sense with his surroundings, and was less inclined to get a feeling of the force. Only twelve and he had already faced a threat thought to be dead over a millennium ago. The politics had not yet solidified in the boy's head for he wasn't disciplined like the other Jedi, he was rushed and brought up from an age deemed unfit for Jedi service as he had already experienced the outside world. For Colt this was a head rush of information to consider, but not only that he felt semi-alone his master's shame had taken a hold making Colt a bit resentful considering the Jedi and his master. Albeit his master had been a great teacher and friend, he had kept his distance due to attacking the Padawan the month before.

As Colt and Kitchit arrived the two stepped off the ship as they were greeted and explained the state of things on Tython. "Thank you." As they walked and talked the mention of the orbital satellite made Colt raise an eyebrow, he had been slightly on edge since Yavin IV. However he tried to push it back albeit kept gnawing on the ends of his consciousness. He glanced towards Kitchit noticing his silence still hasn't changed since as Colt decided to take up the reigns of the conversation. "Anything you can tell us about the place we're guarding? Or anything else weird that's happened?"

The hum of the ship was like pleasant white noise to the seated figure within it's cargo hold. It allowed him to focus, to envision his goals, to perceive his victories. Hovering a foot of the floor of the metallic floor was a Duros man sitting in a cross legged fashion. His palms rested on his knees as he breathed slowly, in and out. His eyelids fluttered open as the hologram projector whirred to life and displayed a droid's image before him. "Master, the reprogrammed droid was successful in it's mission, we'll be coming out of hyperspace shortly and begin out descent." The automated voice of the droid piloting his ship brought a brief smile to the mane's face before he lowered himself to the ground. Rising to his feet, he opened a nearby container with the Force before taking strides to close the gpa between it and himself.

The process was performed in silence, the donning of his white durasteel and plastoid armor was like a transformation for him. Trapping himself in the darkness of the suit, he breathed steadily for a moment before he could feel the shifting of gravity generator fighting the planets actual gravity. His metallic footsteps echoed in the quiet storage chamber as he hooked a lightsaber to his belt, the silver color accented with gold. The door to the bridge as he stepped forward and into the cockpit where he looked out the view port to see the planet of Tython meet his gaze. "Bring us down near the temple and dust off once I'm on the ground. Keep yourself hidden from sensors if they come back online. Maintain radio silence and be prepared for pickup when I call."

The vocal modifier obscured his natural voice as he spoke to the droid that gave a simple affirmation in response. The ship sank low as it approached the wild space near the Jedi Temple. He closed his eyes and focused as the ship neared the Temple, seeking to mask himself with the force from the less initiated or those not as in touch with the Force. Making his way towards the back of the ship, he heard a few branches pang and bonk the hull of the shuttle as the rear cargo hatch opened and the ramp extended. Lowering down, it provided a simple path towards the ground as he exited his vessel and touched down. "I'm down, stay on stand by." He spoke through his comm unit before the ramp retracted as the shuttle took off, staying low as it grazed its belly against the tree tops during it's ascension.

Darth Chrul had landed, and he was here to follow up on the information he'd been given regarding a holocron. No Jedi, droid, or ravaging wildlife would keep him from his prize. With his goal in mind, he started moving through the wilds of Tython, the Jedi Temple looming a short ways in the distance.

The wookie let out a few roars of acknowledgment to the girl before he continued his way forward, following her lead as their entourage set out towards what had only been described to him as a small refinery built into the side of a mountain cliff. Sources said that an old holocron was there and, until the holocron could be located at the site and moved to a secure holding at the Jedi temple on Coruscant, Kitchit and his padawan would guard the site. Something did not bode well with him however. A strange complicated feeling rode over him- one that told him that there was perhaps trouble.

The perky padawan continued to make conversation with the two jedi guardians.

"Well, the forest up ahead has some dangerous wildlife- razorhawks and the likes but... between you and me the flesh raiders are more scary. Not much of them left these days but rumor has it they still dwell in the caves." the padawan said as she made it to the edge of a forest. She stepped over a thick root and into it beckoning to the two to follow.

"So far its been uneventful at the cliffs- once we get through the forest you'll see them but... I think the droids we have there have done a pretty good job of keeping a clear perimeter. Still, Yurin has a bad feeling about these holocrons and wants "Jedi in the flesh" there... well, he also said that like.." she giggled while stepping over another root and trudging on into the muddy jungle floor of the forest. "With these dark holocrons you always feel bad and you cannot really see clearly or something? Something about being around the holocrons themselves can cloud your judgement..." she giggled more, it clearly being a sign of her nervousness.

"But we are Jedi right, dark things would never cloud our minds right?" she said with a doubt-filled voice. Kitchit's heart sank at that line, his eyes darting to his padawan whom he had nearly killed than back to his missing arm.
Chrul would need to stick to the real wilds if he was to avoid the droid patrol or the Jedi entourage on his way to the enclave. Things would get particularly challenging however as he made his way through the wilds, only to find a large hulking being sat down near a fresh kill- some sort of game. It was a flesh raider. It's head would slightly turn as it was alerted to the presence of something else- but not enough to take its attention of its game for the moment.

Colt had listened as they trudged through to the refinery. He listened as his hood bobbed up and down with his footsteps on his poncho. Despite being a padawan and adhering to the Jedi dress code he was at least allowed to retain his poncho rather than a typical robe. "Flesh raiders?" Colt tilted his head animalistic like as he questioned the existence of such raiders. For Colt he hadn't been off Coruscant so his tales of the world have all been second hand. It was only under Kitchit's tutelage that he had gained some kind of experience. He had read about the Tusken Raiders of Tatooine but had never actually seen any of these raiders. As the trio trudged further ahead he could see the refinery coming up in the distance as they had a bit to go he glanced towards his Wookie Master who seemed fixated on the path ahead of them.

With a sigh Colt turned his head towards his guide to ask another question. "Who made these holocrons? Dark Jedi or... others?" Colt's voice fell off as he mentioned others, despite being a threat hidden for a millennia it seemed taboo to say it outright until it was confirmed. It felt at this point Colt was leading this mission, and was the only one trying to field a conversation to get more details. Albeit they had gotten a message detailing their mission this information wasn't included, perhaps Kitchit already knew, but Colt wasn't sure, the two had hardly spoken since the incident.

With the mention of dark things never clouding our minds, Colt kept his eyes forward. Being so young he hardly knew how to traverse such a situation, he wasn't equipped to deal with the mental trauma, guilt, or stress that had come with being dealing with the Sith. Quite frankly being so young too, Colt's mind had bounced back relatively fine. It was terror that gripped him then, but he had luckily evaded its grasp with no lasting trauma. Some Padawan's were exiled from the order for lesser experiences due to not being equipped for them. However for Colt he empathized with his master, but felt so powerless to do anything to help him. It was depressing, but felt the best way he could help heal would be to show his master that he would persevere.

The ghostly white of his armor was like watching a ghost move throughout the trees. His footsteps and the shifting the protective outwear were the only indication that he was truly having an impact on his surroundings as he trudged onward. His pace was quick but not so much so that he wasn't scanning his surroundings with his eyes, pondering if any of the creatures that called this forest home would be foolish enough to throw their lives away by attacking him. His hand shifted up, pulling his lightsaber off of his belt in order to kept the curved handle at the ready for when it would need to hiss to life.

Moving on, he eventually slowed for a moment as he watched a flesh raider chomp on its latest meal. While he could try to dispatch it, doing so would reqcuire him to break his focus for too long. Hiding his presence within the Force was far more preferable to going on a mindless slaughter of some beast that would ultimately gain him nothing. Shifting to the left, Chrul waved a hand and focused a brief glimmer of the Force to project itself past the creature. He attempted to fool it's senses into looking and investigating a sense of something in the trees in the other direction so the Sith could circumvent it entirely. Should that fail, then Chrul would worry about it later.

Should it succeed, he would continue on to the destination he was given and quickening his pace as he got away from the Flesh Raider. While he would continue masking his presence to the best of his ability, he didn't wish to risk someone trying to track him down or sensing any disturbance he might have caused. His goal resting within some complex built into the mountains.

Chrul was indeed a cunning sith lord and had he engaged the beast would have likely made quite the scene- loud enough for others on planet to take notice. Instead his use of the force had knocked some rocks aside stirring the beast. With a few more nibbles of his food the flesh raider stood tall and marched over to inspect whatever caused the noise. Chrul would easily get past the flesh raider without drawing attention. Still different challenges would await the Sith Lord as once he made it through the clearing and deeper into the forest the cave entrances to where he sought to go had two republic soldiers and a Jedi guarding it.

The Jedi laughed to his republic compatriots- perhaps Chrul was close enough to overhear.

"Just can't wait for the changing of the guard- only an hour left."
The padawan giggled as she punched Colt in the arm and continued forward.

"Get out- you never dealt with flesh raiders??? It's like a right of passage on Tython!" she giggled a bit then proceeded to go on more about the danger of the jungles to Colt- to which Kitchit let out a deep growl causing the Padawan to straighten up and drop her bubbly demeanor. "Sorry Master Kitchit, this is a serious matter. I shouldn't be joking." she said with a bow. Thankfully her humour had broken the tension of the group. She also saw no more need to keep joking and as she stepped through a thicket brought the group to a clearing with three speeder bikes.

The wookie growled again.

"We're not walking kid- it's not that close." his growl seemed to say.

The Padawan bowed again, her cheeks pink from the wookie who continued to shut down her fun antics as she made way to the speeder. The wookie waved to Colt to piggyback on one with the other padawan. He was not confident Colt could pilot one that well- least not a relic like the one the Tython templars used.

"It'll take about an hour at top speed to arrive- and well to answer your other question... dark jedi made it. Before the "sith" as we know them, we think."
